With vans offering up to 9.3m³, the Transporter range offers loads of space and versatile cargo solutions to meet the challenges of your working day. This versatility extends to a choice of three engines, two wheelbases, three roof heights and load areas ranging from 5.8 to 9.3m³. Which means that no matter what work needs doing, there's a Transporter that can do it.
More comfortable than ever
The Transporter can do more than move cargo from A to B. It can even act as a mobile office, with an extremely high level of driver and passenger comfort - from the ergonomic seating with optional lumbar support to the driver assistance, radio and navigation systems. And because we know that’s where you’ll probably be spending a vast majority of your time, we’ve made sure that Transporter is a pleasure to drive, no matter how many hours you spend behind the wheel. That’s why every element of the driver’s environment has been created with ergonomics and safety in mind. And it’s the little things that count with this working space – like large door pockets, storage compartments, document and cup holders.
At home in the mobile office
Seats that hug and support your back, clear and clever instrumentation, adjustable and ergonomically shaped steering wheel, storage containers within easy reach, smooth gearstick at the ready. The Transporter cockpit has been designed and laid out to the millimetre.
Safety takes priority
Many modern safety systems and innovative driver assistance systems are available in Transporter to help protect you from unpleasant surprises. Active safety systems have been installed as standard to control the Transporter in dangerous situations. The cruise control takes the load off long drives, so you can stay alert at the wheel.
Passenger safety
When you’re in your Transporter, you shouldn't only feel comfortable, but safe as well. An intelligent safety concept supports you while you drive and aims to protect you from injuries in the event of an accident.
Modern and intelligent
As an option, the headlights come with a coming/leaving home function, automatically switching on to illuminate the area when you get in and out of your vehicle. Daytime driving lights as standard make your Transporter more visible to other drivers.
Overall protection
"Side Assist": helps you when changing lanes. Using radar sensors to monitor traffic, the system will create a visual signal in the door mirrors if another vehicle is identified in or near your blind spot.
The optional "Turning light" is integrated in the headlamps, lighting up curves and bends on the road when you're turning at 40 km/h or less. This creates better visibility at dangerous intersections and road junctions, allowing you to anticipate possible risks sooner.
The Rear View Camera gives you an optimised view of the area behind your Transporter when reverse gear is engaged (available as a combined option with the RNS510 Navigation System).
When the vehicle weight is transferred to the front wheels during braking, the Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) prevents wheel lock on the rear wheels.
When a seat belt is not fastened, the seat belt warning gives the driver a visual and acoustic warning as a reminder to fasten up before setting off on your journey.
The electronic stabilisation programme (ESP), including electronic differential lock (EDL), helps prevent you losing control of the Multivan in dangerous situations through controlled intervention of the brake and engine management.*
The Anti-lock brake system (ABS) prevents complete wheel lock and therefore significantly improves the vehicle’s manoeuvrability when full braking is applied.
By monitoring the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed, the Brake Assist system judges reflex or emergency braking to apply the full brake pressure more rapidly.
Airbags provide optimal protection during every drive, should an accident unfortunately occur. The Transporter is equipped with driver and front passenger airbags as standard, with side and head airbags optional for the cab.
* ESP cannot, however, override a vehicle's physical limits.
Economy and efficiency
Available in a choice of three efficient Common Rail Turbo Diesel (TDI) engines, the Transporter delivers new standards in economy and operating efficiency. The specially designed 4-cylinder turbo diesel engines deliver remarkable fuel economy from a generous 80 litre fuel tank, especially when linked with the new 7-speed DSG Gearbox. The engines range from 75kw / 250Nm up to 132kW / 400Nm. And what's more, maintenance intervals only come around every 15,000km or every year, so you save more on operating costs.
Direct Shirt Gearbox (DSG)
If your business is more about inner city driving, why not make it even easier with Volkswagen’s Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). Unique in the commercial vehicle sector, the DSG system is not just one automatic clutch... it’s two, working in tandem to deliver the smoothest, fastest, most efficient auto transmission anywhere.
While one clutch is engaged and powering your Transporter along, the other is ready to accept the next gear. This twin clutch technology means you can change gear much faster than with a standard automatic gearbox – actually in less than four hundredths of a second. Think about the stop-start nature of working in the city and you’ll realise just how valuable DSG will be in your Transporter.
4MOTION - Optimal handling even in difficult conditions
Many challenges await us on the roads: wet leaves, coarse gravel, muddy earth. With 4MOTION permanent all-wheel drive, these road surfaces will seem like a breeze. Even in difficult situations, 4MOTION distributes power individually to all four wheels, creating good traction, optimal handling and excellent steering characteristics. And if you frequently need to drive on uneven roads, a manual differential lock for the rear axle is available as an option.
